Dr. Mellena Nichols is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Safety and Health at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she brings dynamic expertise and real-world perspective into the classroom. A forward-thinking safety leader, she recently earned her Doctoral Degree in Fire and Emergency Management Administration from Oklahoma State University, expanding her depth in emergency response, leadership, and resilience. Before completing her doctorate, Mellena earned a Master of Science in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University in 2013, building advanced knowledge in crisis response and organizational safety systems. Her safety journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Safety and Health from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2003, launching her into a career defined by purpose and impact. Dr. Nichols brings two decades of experience Her hands-on background—two years in metal fabrication, five years in the food industry, five years consulting in the transportation sector, and eleven years shaping future safety professionals—gives her a rare ability to connect theory with real-world practice.
