Dr. Biekman is Chair of the Human Rights Commision of Tiye International.
Born in Suriname, living in the Netherlands, holds a doctorate degree in Social Sciences; a Pan-Africanist, well-known as a humanrights activist, networker, broker, bridge builder.
WCAR 2001. During the UN third World Conference Against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance in 2001 in Durban/South Africa, she was the NGO Liaison in the Dutch Governmental Delegation, unanimously appointed by the involved Pan-African organizations and Women’s movements and all other relevant NGO’s as an excellent opportunity to lobby that the trans-Atlantic Slave trade, slavery and colonialism be declared as crimes against humanity.
In 2006 Dr. Biekman was one of the initiators of the Pan-African Roundtable on Durban plus 5; the Addis Ababa Roundtable (April 2007: https://app.box.com/s/1ggn76iqlbjnyxxx047u5fz97apmdmho); actively involved in the process towards the UN Durban Review in 2009 (Genève) and the High Level Panel in 2011 (New York). In 2016 she was co-facilitator of the Rotterdam Roundtable on Durban plus 15 (https://app.box.com/s/13psfb27tzmo4wzd2zogq3h70jj24rlw ) and presently she is involved as co-facilitator of the Civil Society People of African Descent- Roundtable on Durban plus 20.
Dr. Biekman was invited numerous times as a speaker. Her activism lead to active participation in the AU technical sessions regarding the development of the African Union African African Diaspora Declaration and Program of Activities that has been formally adopted on (25) May 2012.

International UN Decade for People of African Descent 2015-2024
As a result of years of tenacious active involvement in the field of Human Rights in general and in the struggle for the implementation of the DDPA 2001, Dr. Biekman was chosen and appointed by the President of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly to be the Civil Society Speaker (https://app.box.com/s/4sgg9vpjvd95capjmribd36gxc4m6boy) during the UN Launching of the International Decade for People of African Descent in December 2014.
In 2021 Biekman was nominated again by the President of the UN General Assembly to deliver the Keynote Address as Civil Society Speaker during the Plenary of the UNGA High Level Meeting of the 20 anniversary of the Durban Declaration and Program of Action Session on September, 22, 2021 with the Theme: “Reparations, racial justice and equality for people of African descent”
