Chase is a policy consultant in the Office of the Speaker of the California Assembly, where he is the advisor to Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Salinas) on all energy and telecommunications matters. Chase joined the Speaker’s Office in 2021 and since then, at the Speaker’s direction, has worked on issues including the authorization of the Department of Water Resources central procurement mechanism, the creation of the Electric Supply Strategic Reliability Reserve Program, the creation of the California Energy Commission Division of Petroleum Market Oversight, and the extension of the operating life for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant, among others. Chase previously served as legislative director to Senator Steven Bradford (D-Gardena), the now Chair of the Senate Energy, Utilities & Communications Committee. Chase is a native of California and has an undergraduate degree in history from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
