I have been a purchasing agent in wholesale distribution since 2012, with 10 years as a purchaser for an HVAC manufacturer prior to that. I am responsible for maintaining inventory levels for 9 branches and a central warehouse in Atlantic Canada, as well as file maintenance on an ongoing basis.
Before becoming a professional purchaser, I used to work as an automotive technician, service advisor, wholesale dairy route operator, and manager of a shoe store. Those positions involved a lot of stock ordering and inventory management, so purchasing has been part of my occupational history for almost 30 years, because I'm getting old now.
Since we’re getting to know each other: Together with my wife, who is a teacher, I'd like to think I had a part in raising our three now-grown daughters: a nurse, a teacher, and one on the way to becoming... you guessed it... a teacher. Sadly, no purchaser(s) to pass the torch to, though I am immensely proud of them in their chosen professions. Now empty-nesters, we have time on our hands, though, oddly, there’s no surplus of cash. I have discovered something called "hobbies", which currently include, but is not limited to : hockey goalie, tuba player (no, really) in a concert band, trombone player in a swing band, and bass player and vocalist for my own amusement. TMI, I know.
PS - I enjoy walks along the driveway, to the car, where my passion for driving the open road is often met with potholes, since we use salt on our roads in winter in the great, white north.
