Dr. Travis Henry

Dr. Henry is a Professor of Radiology and Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. He then completed his radiology residency and cardiothoracic imaging fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, where he served as chief resident during his final year. Prior to joining the Duke faculty in 2021, he spent several years on the faculty at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Henry’s expertise lies in clinical cardiothoracic radiology and radiology education. He has received multiple awards, including being recognized as faculty “Teacher of the Year” on four separate occasions during his career at his three different institutions, most recently in 2024 at Duke. He is also a recipient of the RSNA Honored Educator Award in 2022 and numerous other local and institutional awards. He has given over 100 lectures at institutional courses, national, and international meetings. His primary areas of interest include interstitial lung disease, lung injury, exposure/inhalational lung disease, and pulmonary vascular and aortic disorders. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Notable recent publications include authoring initial descriptions of vaping-associated lung injury in The New England Journal of Medicine and the American Journal of Roentgenology in 2019, and multiple COVID-related publications. He was named a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2024, in part for his work as co-director of the HRCT course at the ACR Education. His service extends to multiple additional radiology organizations, including RSNA, STR, ARRS, and the ABR.
