Lisa L. Abbott (Chair, KCACTF Region IV) MFA, SDC, Professor Abbott teaches Acting, Directing and Playwriting at Georgia Southern University. She has been an active participant in KCACTF for the past 20 years, both as a student and as a faculty member. She has worked as a free-lance director in Chicago with the Organic Theater Company, Chicago Dramatists, and several other smaller companies. In Portland, Oregon she was the Artistic Director of Pavement Productions, and worked with ART, Portland Center Stage, Bridge City Productions and Stark Raving Theatre. This spring her children’s play Folk Tails will be coming out as part of the Pioneer Press Catalog, and she just finished her adaptation of Medea. Some of her favorite productions as a director have been Emilie: La Marquise du Châtelet Defends Her Life Tonight, Metamorphosis, and the world premier of Liberation. As a director she truly enjoys the exploration of stories that challenge and engage.
