Belal Abboushi is a Senior Associate Lighting Research Engineer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). His current research examines the use of lighting for disinfection focusing on upper room germicidal ultraviolet systems and their role to combat SARS-CoV-2. Other research areas include luminaire luminance uniformity, discomfort glare, and daylight-electric lighting integration. Belal holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Oregon where he was involved in studies investigating indoor environmental quality and occupant�s satisfaction in office buildings.
