Session 1 (Beginner) Thinking About a Capital Campaign? Let's Get Ready!
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM Thu
My background is a blend of development, community relations, public relations, non-profit management, organizational analysis and design, strategic planning, program planning, and grant-making.
My development career has encompassed: annual giving planning and execution, development assessments, capital campaign planning and execution, grant-writing and community relations. The institutions and organizations for whom I have worked have had one or two-person development offices as well as ones with as many as five staff members. Most often my mission was to take the development efforts to a new level whether that meant launching a development department, growing the annual giving, executing and launching a capital campaign or initiating a planned giving.
Having worked in Maine, New Hampshire, New York City and southern California, my track record speaks to an ability to succeed in very different institutional environments and in a variety of philanthropic communities. Included among those institutions are: United Way; human service organizations; healthcare- both home health care and major medical centers; national health organizations; community colleges; museums; summer theaters; and independent schools.
Professionally, I am active in the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals where I am a past president, a past Conference Committee chair and twice chair of the National Philanthropy Day celebration. Currently, I serve as the Chair of the Mentor – Mentee Program Committee. I have been a Board member of numerous organizations, a development committee member of others and have also served on several town committees in the communities where I have lived.
