Track 1: Research/Policy
1:30 PM - 2:30 PM Mon
Dr. Marilisa Boffo is Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and Digital Behavioral Health at Erasmus University Rotterdam. With expertise at the intersection of behavioral science, digital technology, and user-centered design, her research focuses on developing dynamic, personalized digital interventions to facilitate meaningful and sustainable behavior change.
Together with her team, she co-designs and evaluates innovative digital solutions—ranging from real-time feedback tools to interactive web and mobile applications—in areas such as responsible gambling, mental health, and student wellbeing. Dr. Boffo’s work is strongly applied and collaborative. In 2022, she launched the A Safe Bet project, a first-of-a-kind collaboration with gambling operators Holland Casino Online and Playtech to develop an adaptive, data-driven online responsible gambling framework to promote sustainable gambling practices better aligned with players' needs and preferences.
Dr. Boffo is also the academic lead of the Erasmus Student Wellbeing Programme, a university-wide initiative designed to support students’ mental health and personal development through evidence-based, scalable, and inclusive services. This role reflects her broader vision to bridge science and practice by designing interventions that have direct societal impact at scale. Finally, Dr. Boffo is the coordinator of an innovative Master’s track in Health Psychology training future professionals in the creation of ethical, evidence-based, and human-centered health interventions by also leveraging the power of technology.
