Mike Stegner was hired as a Nez Perce Tribal Police Officer in June 2011. Mike successfully completed training at the State of Idaho, Police Officers Standards Training Academy and was assigned in the Patrol Division. Mike attended and completed the Field Training Officer program in April 2013. In May 2013, Mike received a Special Law Enforcement Commission from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In November 2014, Mike was assigned as the School Resource Officer. September 2016, Mike was assigned as a Senior Patrol Officer, where he continued to investigate all types of serious crimes including, but not limited to, drug trafficking, violent crime, sex crimes and others. In September 2017, Mike was promoted to Patrol Corporal and assigned to supervise the NPTP Patrol Division. In December 2017, as a Patrol Corporal, he was also promoted as a Canine Handler and assigned a K9 Team with K9 Ruger. After successfully completing the Narcotic Detection Training, K9 Ruger and Mike passed the Idaho State Narcotic Detection evaluation as well as the Pacific Northwest Police Detection Dog Association (Federal) evaluation. On April 2, 2019, Mike was Specially Deputized through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for Title 21 investigations. On January 6, 2020 he was promoted to the rank of Detective (Det.) was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. In July of 2022, Mike was promoted to supervise the Patrol Division and is serving as a Sergeant of Patrol.
