Alejandra Chiesa is a Vice President at Green Schoolyards America, leading efforts to scale the green schoolyard movement in California. She provides strategic leadership to develop and implement programs with school districts, public agencies, and nonprofit partners, transforming schoolyards into vibrant green spaces that enhance student well-being, climate resilience, and environmental justice. With over 20 years of experience as a landscape architect and policy advocate, Alejandra previously led the Bay Area Program at the Trust for Public Land, working extensively with communities to advance park equity and health outcomes. She was instrumental in launching the Oakland Living Schoolyards Initiative, which is replacing asphalt playgrounds with nature-rich environments. Passionate about green space equity, Alejandra collaborates with policymakers and communities to remove systemic barriers to schoolyard forests. Originally from Uruguay, she holds a dual Master’s in Biology and Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan.
