Designing California’s Transportation Fuels Transition Plan for Success
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Tue
Quentin Gee is the manager of Advanced Electrification Analysis Branch in the Energy Assessments Division of the California Energy Commission. He oversees forecasting of new electrification technologies (transportation, building electrification, and energy efficiency). Incorporating California’s leading climate policies, these forecasts are critical inputs into electricity system planning processes, including resource procurement, transmission, and distribution. They also serve as a basis for electrification policy analysis and development in the state. Quentin also oversees the CEC’s Demand Scenarios project, which evaluates long-term demand for all fuels, including combustion fuels. Demand scenarios provide guidance for broader energy policy, such as renewable energy needs under Senate Bill 100 and transportation fuel assessments and transition planning under Senate Bill X1-2 and Assembly Bill X2-1. Quentin’s prior experience includes zero-emission vehicle analysis and lecturing on energy, climate, and other environmental studies topics at UC Santa Barbara.
