Piotr Wężyk, Assoc. Prof. at the University of Agriculture in Krakow (UoA, Poland), head of the Laboratory of Geomatics in the Institute of Forest Resource Management at Faculty of Forestry and CEO of the SME ProGea 4D Ltd. and ProGea Consulting (Krakow) as well. He received his Ph.D. degree in 1999 at the University of Agriculture in Krakow and the Habilitation degree in 2013 from the UAM Poznan, Poland. The topic of his Ph.D. work was the investigation of using GIS and digital photogrammetry for the purpose of the modeling of spatial distribution of heavy metals in the forest ecosystem. The subject of his Habilitation thesis was the integration of various geomatics technologies for the monitoring and management of the natural environment. Over 25 years of professional and scientific experience in national and international R&D projects on integration of GIS/WebGIS, digital Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing data, Image Processing (Stereo-matching, GEOBIA), GNSS and LiDAR (ALS, TLS, MLS, ULS, HLS) technology - oriented on applications in LULC, forestry, spatial planning, nature protection and natural hazards monitoring. Teacher at the post-graduate courses on UoA, AGH and Jagiellonian University in Krakow and UAM in Poznan (Poland). European Commission expert in evaluation of H2020 proposals. Chairman of the Special Interest Group (SIG) on Forestry at EARSeL. Author and co-author of over 230 scientific papers and academic books and monographs.
