Kira Urban is a PhD candidate at Forest Inventory and Remote Sensing, Faculty of Forest Sciences, University of Goettingen within the DFG-funded project “Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems (Sumatra, Indonesia)”. Her research topic is the quantification of structure, heterogeneity and changes of vegetation and land use as a basis for the explanation of ecological and socioeconomic functions using remotely sensed data. With a background in ecological impact assessment and forest conservation, she is specialized on land use pattern analyses using active and passive remotely sensed data.
