Steven J. Weiss is one of the Founders of Cannon Heyman & Weiss, LLP and has largely retired from the practice of law. While he was actively practicing law, Mr. Weiss worked on transactions in many states across the country. Mr. Weiss previously served as the Managing Partner of CHW from its inception, stepping down in the spring of 2025. Mr. Weiss currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of NYS Housing Finance Agency and all of its constituent boards and committees, an appointment which was nominated by Gov. Hochul and confirmed by the NYS Senate. He was born in Buffalo, New York and is admitted to practice in New York and Minnesota. Mr. Weiss received his education at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Management (B.S. 1987, M.B.A. 1988), and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law (J.D., 1991). Mr. Weiss is a member of the NYSAFAH board of directors and is an emeritus member of the SUNY Buffalo Law School Dean’s Advisory Council. Mr. Weiss is a past President of the Jewish Federation of Western New York and a former Board Member of the Jewish Federations of North America.
