Lorrie Pizzola oversees NYSAFAH’s policy agenda, leading legislative, budgetary, and regulatory strategies to expand affordable housing across New York State. With over 30 years of public service, her career began as an intern in the New York State Senate and evolved into roles shaping housing policy at the highest levels of government. She has held key positions including Housing Policy Advisor in the Governor’s Office of State Operations and Deputy Commissioner for Intergovernmental Affairs at the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR), serving under four gubernatorial administrations. She later returned to the State Senate, becoming Legislative Director for the Senate Housing, Construction, and Community Development Committee. Prior to joining NYSAFAH, she served as a Senior Program Director at New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), leading community-focused housing initiatives. Lorrie has played a key role in advancing housing policy through thoughtful strategy and collaboration. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Utica College of Syracuse University, a master’s from the College of Saint Rose, and is an alumna of the Council of State Governments Henry Toll Fellowship Program.
