Susan Greene Tillman was admitted to NSDAR in 1988 as a Junior member and has been continuously active over the past thirty-two years, first in Florida and then in Texas serving on many different committees and in leadership roles since her move to this state in 2001. She has been the State Regent of the Texas Society DAR since 2018. Before that she served as the State Vice Regent, State Recording Secretary, and State Treasurer. She is an Honorary Chapter Regent of the San Jacinto Chapter where she has served as Chapter Regent, Vice Regent, Recording Secretary, and Parliamentarian, along with chairing many committees.
Ms. Tillman has served the National Society as National Chair of Genealogical Records, DAR Genealogy Preservation, Volunteer Information Specialists and as National Vice Chair of CDRC, VIS, e-Membership, and VIS Web Page Review. She has served in many different appointed positions, including but not limited to Reviewer Midlevel Group for Applications, Advisor Patriot Records Project, Advisor Membership, Advisor DAR Genealogy Preservation, Advisor Public Relations/MPRT. She has completed the Volunteer Genealogist Training Program, GEP I, GEP II, GEP III, New Member Course, and New Horizons Course. She is the recipient of the JAC Thatcher Award 1998, Volunteer Information Specialist of the Year 1997 and 1998, Outstanding State Historian 1998, and Golden Key Award 1997. She has also served as Texas Senior State Treasurer and Senior State Parliamentarian for the Children of the American Revolution, along with various other positions both in Texas and in Florida.
Married to Jerry Lawrence Tillman for 44 years, they are the proud parents of a son and two daughters (who are both DAR members), and grandmother to six. Through the years, her volunteer service outside the DAR has included parents organizations, Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Leader, Brownie and Junior Girl Scout Leader, cookie mom, soccer team manager and booster pit club crew. Other lineage societies she is also a member of include United States Daughters of 1812, National Society New England Women, Colonial Dames XVII Century, Dames of the Court of Honor, Daughters of the American Colonists, Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts, National Society Magna Charta Dames, Colonial Dames of America Chapter III, and General Society of Mayflower Descendants.
