Getting The Credit: All about tax credits

Dan is Assistant Commissioner for New Construction Finance at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), where he oversees five finance programs (ELLA, M&M, NCP, OpenDoor, M2) and a pipeline of projects across the five boroughs. He has directly managed the closing and financing of more than 5,000 units of housing in New York City and the conversion of another 4,000 units of housing from construction to permanent financing. Dan specializes in structuring mixed-use transactions that pair affordable housing with other critical infrastructure and public works improvements, such as parks, streets, sewers, schools, and libraries. He also has experience as a planner managing land use approvals and community engagement strategies for affordable housing developments. Dan is an instructor at Cornell University, where he leads a graduate level course on Affordable Housing Finance and Development for the Rubacha Real Estate Department. He has a Masters in Regional Planning from Cornell, and a Bachelor of Arts in Classics and History from Skidmore College.
