Valerio Scarani is professor in the Department of Physics and principal investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, National University of Singapore. He received his diploma and doctorate from Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, then spent some years as a researcher at the University of Geneva, before moving to Singapore. His theoretical research spans both foundational and applied topics. He is notably one of the inventors of device-independent certification. After two popular books, he has recently written a treatise on Bell nonlocality.
