Toby Brooks serves as Program Director and Associate Professor in the Master of Athletic Training Program at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas. A native of Golconda, Illinois, Brooks holds a BS in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and both a Masters and Doctoral degree in Physical Education from The University of Arizona where he worked with the Wildcat women's gymnastics, football, and baseball programs. Brooks has spent two decades working as a certified athletic trainer and/or strength and conditioning coach with numerous professional, collegiate, and high school athletics programs, including the USA Baseball national teams, the Oakland Raiders, the Florida Firecats arena football team, and the Southern Illinois Miners Baseball team. Most recently, he has worked to incorporate the lessons learned from his efforts with NSF iCorps and the TTU Innovation Hub Accelerator Program into his daily work and teaching. He has published 19 books and textbooks, multiple articles and studies, and presents regularly at national and international conferences. He is active in his church, and in his scant free time, he enjoys drawing, playing the drums, wrenching on cars, and spending time with his wife Christi, daughter Brynnan, and son Taye.
