Case Studies and a Conversation with Students on Overcoming Hidden Barriers to College Success
3:00 PM - 4:15 PM Thu
Carolina Espinal is a third-year student at Tufts University studying Political Science and Economics. As a daughter of Honduran immigrants, Carolina had an upbringing punctuated by lessons that have shaped her passion for public service. Through her work with the ACLU of Florida and the Young Invincibles, she has uplifted voices in her community in Miami and has lobbied for higher education bills in DC. She has continued to work relentlessly as a student-journalist to report on Florida's prisons, the opioid epidemic, gun violence, and other issues abroad in Italy. Her experiences led her to witness inequities and prompted her desire to reduce racial disparities and gaps in education. Carolina aspires to receive her J.D./M.P.P. to continue advocating for minorities, expanding equitable opportunities and being of service to others.
