11:30 AM - 12:45 PM Thu
CaVar Reid serves as the Program Manager for Campus and Community Relations for Wolverine Pathways. Wolverine Pathways is a free, University of Michigan program that serves students and schools in Ypsilanti, Detroit, and Southfield. They provide year-round, educational enrichment, college readiness programming, and career exposure to middle and high school scholars in order to increase these young people’s probability of admission to the most selective colleges in the U.S., including the University of Michigan. All scholars who complete Pathways and gain admittance to UM Ann Arbor or Dearborn receive a 4-year, full tuition scholarship. In his role, CaVar leads efforts to collaborate with UM units and affiliates, and community organizations and corporations across Southeast Michigan to provide enrichment programming, mentorship, and exposure opportunities that will support scholars' college and career readiness. Prior to joining with Pathways, CaVar worked as an Academic Advisor at the University of Michigan. He holds a B.A. in African American Studies and English from Wesleyan University, and a Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan.
