Donald Dunn was elected National PTA Secretary-Treasurer in June 2019. He is a committed advocate for children, families and educators who has served two terms on the National PTA Board of Directors. Blending his professional experiences and volunteer affiliations has allowed him to create a lasting positive impact for others.
Dunn has advanced through PTA leadership roles. He previously served as North Carolina State PTA president and in 2015 hosted National Convention in Charlotte. In 2017 he was part of a volunteer group for the Lifetouch Memory Mission trip to the Dominican Republic where he help build a rural community school. He continues to be involved with several local Title 1 schools. He volunteers with Forsyth Educator Partnership, a nonpartisan organization that collects donations and school supplies for local public schools, awards grants to educators, and supports arts education.
Dunn and his family own and operate two five-star childcare centers in Winston-Salem, N.C and also operate group homes for adults with disabilities. Dunn's professional background is in banking, finance and pharmaceutical sales management. He graduated from Winston-Salem State University and he and his wife Ann have one daughter.
