Badr Eldin Taha Osman (Ph. D.), a Sudanese geographer graduated at the University of Khartoum 1986 with a first class B. A. honours in geography. Later, in 1990, Dr. Osman has been awarded an M A. Degree in Geography from the same university and a doctoral degree from Lund University (Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) in Sweden 1996.
Now an associate professor, Dr. Osman has been working as an academic staff at the department of Geography Faculty of Arts University of Khartoum in Sudan, the Department of Geography in Faculty of Arts King Saud University in KSA, and recently at the Department of GIS in the Faculty of Geographical and Environmental Sciences University of University.
As a geographer and GIS professional, Dr. Osman has taught many courses in geography and geo-technology, as well as supervising many ph. D. theses. As a researcher, assessor and consultant He contributed many research works, activities and projects.
Besides his assignment as Assistant Editor of Sudan Geographical Journal, Dr. Osman is currently working as a Head Department of GIS. This is preceded by his formerly position as a Deputy Dean of the Graduate College University of Khartoum for six years since 2010. During this period He was a member of the four specialized boards of the U of K Graduate Collage which include: the Humanities and Educational Studies Board, the Agricultural and Veterinary Studies Board, the Basic Sciences and Engineering Studies Board and the Medical and Health Studies Board.
Dr. Osman's career as a geographer has led him to many field works in Sudan and abroad, as well as visiting and working with many colleagues at many international academic Institutions. Dr. Osman has contributed remarkably, to the field of GIS and related geospatial technologies, in many academic-scientific, educational, research and training endeavors.
