Jo Becker has nearly twenty years’ experience with Oregon's housing market -first as a licensed
sales agent in the Portland metro. market and then as a trainer with the Fair Housing Council of
Oregon.
The Fair Housing Council is a nonprofit and the only organization dedicated solely to fair housing in the state. All of their trainers go above and beyond to make a potentially dry, legal subject as
accessible and entertaining as possible.
As a former Realtor(R), Jo was involved with her local association's Equal Opportunity/Cultural
Diversity Committee for eight years, serving as a long-time member and former chair. She also
served on the association's Board of Directors. As such, she truly appreciates the housing providers' perspective as well as that of the advocate.
As a seasoned public speaker, Jo has presented to crowds of 2 to 400 to rave reviews. In her time with the FHCO she has trained over 1 OK individuals -most of them housing providers -on their
rights and responsibilities under the law.
Jo employees a personable approach infused with historical and relatable context, understandable concepts, and bottom line considerations despite complex, confusing, and often contradictory laws and potentially "doom and gloom" subjects. Her aim is to empower audiences regardless of topic.
