Steven is happily married to the love of his life—who somehow hasn’t realized how far out of his league she is (and he plans to keep it that way). When he’s not working, he’s usually chasing their two amazing kids who keep life loud and full in the best ways, experimenting with vegan curry recipes, or injuring himself while trying to get back into a workout routine—still refusing to accept he’s no longer a 20-something Marine.
After the military, Steven enrolled at San Diego State University without a clear plan but with a strong desire to do meaningful work, a deep interest in finance, and a lifelong habit of launching side projects and small businesses. Blending those together led him to earn his CFP® designation and found Next Gen Financial Planning, serving clients often overlooked by the profession. Over the years, he had the privilege of helping hundreds of people navigate their financial and life journeys.
Andy sought out mentors wherever he could find them. Jim taught him to listen before offering solutions. Michael showed him how to think like a business owner. Nancy demonstrated that sales can be ethical and enjoyable. Taylor highlighted the power of community. He’s deeply grateful to them and to the many others who shaped his path. In 2024, he passed the torch at Next Gen to his team.
Today, Andy is focused on a new mission with AdviceOnly, building a model that allows advisors to focus on delivering advice—not sales pitches. Too many advisors feel overwhelmed by compliance and administrative burdens, isolated in their work, or pressured to prioritize firm revenue over what feels right. AdviceOnly is working to change that and raise the standard for advice-only financial planning.
Andy still takes on occasional small hourly projects but is not currently accepting new ongoing clients while building the AdviceOnly platform. Prospective clients are encouraged to visit
