Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal (D/WF Manhattan) represents the 67th Assembly district, which includes the Upper West Side and parts of Hell’s Kitchen. She is a lifelong resident of the Upper West Side and currently serves as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Housing.
Since taking office in 2006, Assemblymember Rosenthal has passed more than 150 laws that have helped to improve the lives of all New York State residents. She has passed groundbreaking legislation, such as the Child Victims Act and the Adult Survivors Act, to provide survivors of sexual abuse an opportunity to seek justice in the courts. Assemblymember Rosenthal has also passed legislation across many issue areas, including increasing access to statewide substance use disorder programs, expanding reproductive and LGBTQIA+ rights, regulating e-cigarettes, advancing animal welfare, enhancing consumer protection laws, bolstering gun control measures and championing menstrual equity across the State by eliminating the sales tax on menstrual products, as well as various healthcare measures.
In 2023, Assemblymember Rosenthal was appointed Chair of the Assembly Committee on Housing by Speaker Heastie. She has been a staunch advocate for affordable housing for decades, and sponsored legislation that was ultimately included in the 2019 HSTPA. She has also passed laws increasing the rent cap on housing vouchers under the state FHEPS program, ensuring transparency in the Mitchell-Lama system, cracking down on illegal hotels, modernizing HPD's loan procurement program to enhance homeownership, preservation and climate goals.
Assembly Rosenthal previously served as Chair of the Assembly Committees on Social Services and Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. She received a B.A. in History from the University of Rochester.
