Keynote 7 - Dr. Elizabeth Bolen - The Family Healing Journey Through PTS(D): Integrative Mind Body Medicine Approach
8:50 AM - 9:50 AM Thu
For the first responder the diagnosis of PTS(D) is life altering. Their whole world changes, as it does for their family. There is a ripple effect that shakes the core of everyone in that family. This doesn't have to be a bad thing. This is an opportunity for deeper growth and healing for everyone involved.
There is hope, and a way to navigate the rocky waters that lie ahead. A path that leads to deeper bonds and intimacy. Everyone plays a role when you take the family healing journey, and it will force you to grow more than you ever believed possible. You will come out stronger.
This talk is about looking at the spouse and extended families role to manage their triggers and healing while the first responder fights their internal battle. You are not helpless, you have a very important role and get to become more empowered than you ever imagined. Let me show you HOW!
Dr. Liz is an Integrative Mind Body Medicine Doctor and the wife of an RCMP officer. Knowing that she wasn't going to live the traditional life for a doctor she embraced the unconventional and opened up an international institute training other healthcare providers to become the tops in their field.
Her private practice is gear towards high functioning anxiety and trauma recovery. Going through her own trauma, and living in different isolated posts in the Canadian Arctic with her young family Dr. Liz is an advocate for mental health.
Recently her husband started his healing journey for PTSD and depression from working in an isolated post in Nunavut. She has first hand experience treating mental health and being in the support role for family who are just starting their journey.
Everyone has the ability to heal, it just takes the right set of tools and support in order to pull through.
