Breakout Session 4C - William J. Timmons - Emergency Management/Response to Crisis/Critical Incident Stress
2:45 PM - 3:45 PM Wed
Although my presentation primarily addresses most emergency service providers, it is equally relevant to anyone who may become involved in workplace violence, and related emotional stress involving one's family. The presentation offers approved methods for assessing and dealing with emotional responses inherent in any human crisis situation. It will provide the necessary theoretical background for understanding crisis situations. It will also assist the individual in recognizing the emotional impact that continued exposure to human crisis has on the worker. the presentation also offers self-sustaining coping mechanisms one can utilize to help reduce the negative effects of work-related stress and personal crisis. The material and other sources of information obtained for my presentation was adopted from a personal friend of mine, Doctor Wayne Misselbeck, Medical Advisor, State of Vermont and Jeffry Mitchell Ph.D. and George Everly Jr. Ph.D. of International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, Inc. ( ICISF ) Maryland. A No-Profit, Non Governmental Organizational in Special Consultative Status, with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. ( Ellicott City, MD )
