Cynthia C. Prescott is Professor of History and Chair of History & American Indian Studies at the University of North Dakota. She wrote Gender and Generation on the Far Western Frontier (University of Arizona, 2007) and Pioneer Mother Monuments: Constructing Cultural Memory (University of Oklahoma Press, 2019), and built a companion website, Pioneer Monuments in the American West. She co-edited Colonial Violence and Monuments in Global History (with Janne Lahti, Routledge, 2024) and Backstories: The Kitchen Table Talk Cookbook (with Maureen S. Thompson, The Digital Press at the University of North Dakota, 2021). She currently is playtesting her Reacting to the Past role-playing game, "Memory Reconsidered: San Francisco Pioneer Monument during the Culture Wars, 1991-1996."
