Francisco Berríos Portela is the Deputy Chief of Staff for Energy Affairs at the Government of Puerto Rico and is the former Director of the Energy Policy Program at the Department of Economic Development and Commerce. Berríos-Portela has been leading large–scale project developments, infrastructure and energy projects for more than 12 years with Business Development, Engineering, and Operations Management roles at several of Puerto Rico’s leading energy and construction companies. Throughout his work, he has contributed to the development of over 60 MW in renewable energy projects in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean such as solar power plants, industrial & commercial PV systems, microgrids, and electric utilities. Berríos-Portela is an active promoter of renewable energy for Puerto Rico, having served at the Board for ACONER, the renewable energy contractor association and participated in multiple energy industry forums on- and off-island.
