Margarita Varela Rosa is the Deputy Director of the Office of Insular Affairs at the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. Under the direction of Chair Raul M. Grijalva, she develops and advances legislation in Congress related to the U.S. Territories, including Puerto Rico.
She has a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Bayamón Campus. She holds a professional engineering license from the state of Maryland. She also has a Juris Doctor from the University of the District of Columbia School of Law.
Margarita is an expert in federal legislation and project management. She also has experience in the federal government’s Executive branch and the private sector. She has held leadership positions in the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton.
