Díaz holds a Bachelor Degree in Science of Civil Engineering with a concentration in Project Management from the Polytechnic University at Puerto Rico. For a period of 7 years, he worked in a variety of construction projects focused on "resort type" housing complex where energy efficiency played an important role. For the past 14 years, he has been involved in the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, as well as the process of regulation and execution of government programs while serving as Deputy Executive Director and ultimately as Executive Director of the former Energy Affairs Administration of the Government of Puerto Rico between 2011-2013. From 2013-2019 was part of the Emilio Bacardí Group, acting as the VP of Operations for Dynamic Solar Solutions and Caribbean Energy Distributors.
In 2019 he became an Associate Director of the Energy, Sustainability & Infrastructure segment of Guidehouse, a consulting firm with more than 10,000 employees and 50 office locations around the world, that serves a variety of clients in segments like Healthcare, Financial Services, Life Science, National Security, Defense and others.
