John combines thought leadership with relentless execution to take calculated business risks derived from data driven decisions. John currently manages a Team of Data Scientists at Ford Motor Company responsible for defining, developing, and executing on Ford’s technology strategy for connected vehicle analytics. John spent 1.5 years in Product Development, developing the connected vehicle strategy and associated technology, he owns 5+ patents in the space that are in production at Ford.
He was asked to make a strategic transition to Ford GDI&A to help prepare Ford for the vehicle analytics necessary to leverage the new technical capabilities that we unlocked through their connected vehicle strategy. As part of that transition he continued to accelerate Ford's connected vehicle analytics by driving the telematics functionality provided to Chariot through the Autonomic Platform. As a result of that work he and his team have the patent associated with advanced tracking of fuel consumption that provides microliter accuracy and is robust against traditional telematics failure modes. John’s team was able to provide standardized performance metrics that enabled measurement of the effectiveness of the algorithms that enabled the business to make strategic designs around the direction of the new business they were developing. Prior to joining Ford, John was the technical lead on a $10 million system, electrical, and software project for Raytheon Corporation as part of the Patriot Missile System Redesign effort. His leadership in this role included numerous activities which required strong communication and organizational skills to enable working cross functionally between organizations and divisions. Due to the classified nature of his work, he can only share a limited amount of information on the product in the field, however, shortly before leaving Raytheon to join Ford, John was accepted into Raytheon’s Leadership Development Program for high performing individuals.
John Graduated from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business with a Master’s in Business Administration, as well as with a Masters in Electrical Engineering: Systems and a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering. His specialization is entrepreneurship and operations. He also took additional course work under David Brophy in Financing advanced technology. He was a part of HKN, the international electrical engineering and computer science honor society, and various other extracurricular activities, including Mini Baja Racing, and a Teaching Assistant, while attending the University. Outside of the corporate environment John enjoys casting video game tournaments, designing and tinkering with electronics, and indulging in the occasional Home Brew.
