Dr. Kevin Rider is a nationally-recognized human factors expert and owner of Forensic Human Factors, LLC, providing consulting, investigations and expert testimony for personal injury cases. He is an expert in investigating how people interact with other people, products and environments in predictable ways, and applying this understanding to the effective, efficient and safe use of products, services and systems. Dr. Rider�s expertise includes 1) motor vehicle and pedestrian collisions, 2) illumination, nighttime visibility, and pedestrian conspicuity, 3) the design and adequacy of product warnings, 4) slips, trips and falls, and 5) workplace safety. He has consulted in over 40 states and testified in state and federal courts throughout the country. His research and analysis in the areas of illumination, luminance, contrast and conspicuity are essential components in evaluating the merits of personal injury lawsuits.
Dr. Rider is a Professional Engineer, a Certified Professional Ergonomist, and has served as a human factors consultant since 1999, including five years as a professor at West Virginia University. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Operations Engineering from the University of Michigan, and his research includes driver perception and distraction, human gait and biomechanics, and driver and pedestrian safety. Dr. Rider is also a member of several professional organizations, including IESNA, the Society for Neuroscience, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, as well as a committee member of the National Floor Safety Institute, working to develop and update commercial floor safety standards.
