Navigating Family Court and Treatment Teams: Roles, Expectations, and Challenges in High-Conflict and Domestic Violence Cases
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Fri
Attorney Erin Byington grew up in the Pacific Northwest, thereafter joining the U.S. Marine Corps as a teenager. While in the Marines, Erin worked in electro-optical ordnance, then was hand picked for high level needs within her battalion, including being the battalion training and readiness non-commissioned officer. After honorable discharge, Erin relocated to Logan, Utah, met her husband while attending USU, and shortly thereafter attended the SJ Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. Erin has practiced law competently in several practice areas over the past 14 years, but chooses to focus on commercial litigation, family law, probate, and criminal defense. She is currently serving as the Executive Director of the Utah Family Defenders Association, and joined the Utah Courts’ roster of mediators and arbitrators for family law, commercial disputes, and probate matters. Erin appreciates that mediation and arbitration are alternative methods of resolving disputes, which are often more efficient and less costly than litigation through trial. Erin also frequently consults and serves as an expert with respect to military and federal benefits.
