Establishing a Comfort Dog in a 9-1-1 Center
3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Tue
Brodie Hinckley is the current Director of the Maine Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Emergency Communications. He has been in that role for almost five years; before that, he was the Director for Sagadahoc County 9-1-1 for ten years. He started his career as a Dispatcher for the Scarborough Police Department. He has over 30 years of public safety experience, from dispatcher to EMT to Reserve Police Officer.
Brodie’s passion is training, Peer Support, and, of course, Comfort Dogs! He handles Baxter, the DPS Comfort Dog, assigned to help mainly Dispatchers but anyone who requests a visit. Baxter will be 2 in April. He loves walks, lying on any dog bed, playing with his dog toys, especially his tennis ball, and playing with his kittens at home.
Brodie lives in Freeport, ME, with his wife, daughter, and son, who remind him daily how much family means.
