Care Without Judgment: Overdose Prevention and Substance Use Resource Connection

Sara is the Technical Assistance Manager within the Overdose Education and Naloxone Distribution Unit in the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. She leads a team that provides guidance and support to approximately 350 Opioid Overdose Prevention Programs across New York City. Sara oversees and supports community-based organizations in developing and implementing best practices in strategic naloxone distribution, with the goal of ensuring that anyone who is at risk for experiencing or witnessing an overdose has access to the resources they need. Over the last year, Sara has worked to increase access to communally available naloxone kits in supportive housing settings. Sara is passionate about harm reduction and strives to reduce the stigma surrounding substance use.
