Gary P. Jenkins is the Chief Executive Officer of Urban Pathways. He joined the organization in September 2024 as its inaugural Chief Administrative Officer, bringing more than 30 years of leadership experience across New York City’s social services system. Previously, Gary served as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Social Services, overseeing the nation’s largest municipal social services agency with nearly 15,000 employees and a $13 billion budget. During his tenure, he led major initiatives addressing poverty, homelessness, and the asylum seeker crisis. Gary holds degrees from Metropolitan College of New York and John Jay College and resides in Brooklyn with his wife and their three adult daughters.
