Susan Bernhart serves the justice-involved and homeless through grant administration and program support at Spiritus Christi Prison Outreach in Upstate NY. Before joining SCPO, she collaboratively designed and implemented new vocational, ADA compliance, and virtual learning programs. She has worked with indigenous communities as well as youth and adults grappling with gang-involvement, immigration, refugee status, learning disabilities, homelessness and reentry in Rochester, Chicago and central Mexico. She is the recipient of the Kearse Award for Outstanding Essay, the Schmitt Scholarship for Outstanding Contributions to Volunteer Service, and is published in Taylor & Francis’ International Journal of Communication.
