Suzi Beck, a resilient and nurturing soul whose life revolves around the rhythm of the land and the community. Born and raised north of Chillicothe, Suzi's connection to the land began in her childhood. Growing up on the six-generation farm at Sturges, MO she developed a deep appreciation for the cycles of nature and the significance of hard work. From animal chores to the garden and household chores she learned how hard work pays off. Suzi's journey as a farm wife truly took root when she married David Beck and brought him to her family farm. Together, they embarked on the adventure of making their family farm into a home for their 4 children. Suzi completed a career in Family and Consumer Science and Preschool education for over 30 years, and seamlessly integrated her passion for agriculture into the daily learning in her classes. The Beck family farm is a patchwork of fields that yield a diverse harvest. Suzi and David meticulously cultivate corn, soybeans, wheat and cattle each crop representing a season of hard work, dedication, and volunteering. When asked what do you grow? Suzi always answers first with “4 children rooted in agriculture, hard work and commitment”. Even this crop is a testament to the Beck family's commitment to the land. Beyond their own farmstead, Suzi is actively involved in various agricultural organizations, including the Livingston County Farm Bureau, Livingston County Young Farmer and Young Farm Wives organization, Livingston County University of Missouri Extension Council. Her dedication extends to community service, including roles on the Livingston County 4H Foundation, Livingston County Senior Services Board, and the Concerned Citizens for the Community Board. Suzi and David Beck are blessed with four children—Stephen, Ethan, Juliane, and Orren and 9 grandchildren. Here is where the legacy of the family farm will continue as does the seasons each year.
