James “Roger” Riley, LPC, LMFT, PSS, has served for the past five years as the Clinical Coordinator for Specialized Treatment for Early Psychosis (STEP) at Burke Center. Burke is a local mental health authority (LMHA) serving eleven counties in Deep East Texas. Mr. Riley has provided mental health services for those with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) since 1988, including multiple differing positions, treatment facilities, and other organizations. His previous mental healthcare experience includes providing clinical supervision/administration and direct clinical services (individual, family, and group therapy, substance use treatment services, assessment and referral, care management, care coordination, EAP, and crisis intervention). Throughout his mental health services career he has advocated, developed and implemented, alternative care services (including intensive outpatient programs), for those challenged by SMI. Primary goals of such innovative alternative care services include crisis stabilization, recovery, intensive coordination of care, and care management to maximize positive outcomes.
