Michele Conner is a Disabled U.S. Air Force Veteran and dedicated advocate for those who have served. She currently serves as the Peer Service Coordinator for the Military Veteran Peer Network at Burke, where she leads peer-to-peer support efforts for veterans, service members, and their families across an 11-county region in East Texas. In this role, she provides crisis response, resource navigation, community outreach, peer support, and facilitation of Military Cultural Competency and suicide awareness with a strong focus on rural and underserved veterans. Michele previously served in key roles with the Texas Veterans Commission, including Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist, where she delivered individualized career services and workforce development support. She was nationally recognized as DVOP of the Year at both the state and national levels for her excellence in veteran employment services. Most recently, was recognized by Congressman Pete Sessions for the 17th District Veteran Congressional Award. A respected leader in the veteran community, Michele is the Past Commander of American Legion Post 113 and served as Junior Vice Commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1836. She currently serves as American Legion District 7 Service Officer assisting 17 posts. Her work emphasizes military cultural competency, strong community partnerships, and empowering veterans to achieve stability, meaningful employment, and long-term success. She holds an Associate of Arts in Psychology and is currently attending Walden University for her Bachelor’s in Social Work. She brings extensive experience in human resources, administration, and organizational leadership to her continued service and advocacy.
