Traumatic Stress: The Responder and the Family

Chief Oreshan began his career in 1987 as a volunteer firefighter with the Boght Community Fire Department (NY). Chief Oreshan retired as a Deputy Chief from NY State Fire, assigned to Special Operations, in May of 2024 after serving for over 21 years. He has presented at several national conferences. Chief Oreshan's work has been published in Fire Engineering magazine and, most recently, in Fire Rescue (Nov. 2017). He has been an emergency responder educator for over 30 years, writing courses that have addressed issues such as responder mental health, chemical suicides, and school terrorism. Chief Oreshan is a Nationally Certified Fire Officer. Chief Oreshan resides in Cohoes, NY, with his wife, Christine.
