Michelle was elected to serve on the Idaho Falls City Council in November 2015 and ran unopposed for her second term in 2019. She currently serves as the President of the Council. She is a proud Vandal and first generation college graduate, graduating from the University of Idaho with a Bachelor's of Science in Advertising with an emphasis Marketing.
Her professional background is in marketing and nonprofit management and she has served in leadership positions for Ball Ventures, College of Eastern Idaho Foundation, Fin Fun, Blue Phoenix Branding and most recently, entered a new phase in career by accepting the role of Executive Director at Snake River Animal Shelter, the area's largest nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue in February 2022.
Michelle is passionate about smart infrastructure and transit planning and was fortunate to be elected as the Board Chair of the Bonneville Metropolitan Planning Organization (BMPO) Policy Board in 2018, an organization she served for two years. Michelle currently serves in the longest liaison role of any current council member as the liaison to the Idaho Falls Regional Airport since 2018.
Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper appointed Michelle to serve on the Board of the Targhee Regional Public Transportation Authority (TRPTA) in January 2019. After TRPTA shut down, Michelle led the sale of assets, bankruptcy restructure, reforming of a new board, transition to a new assumed business name, and the re-launch of public transit through Greater Idaho Falls Transit (GIFT) where she currently serves as the Board Chair.
Michelle and her husband Dayne share four children between the ages of 11 and 18, two rescue dogs Yoda and Chewie, and spend their spare time volunteering and biking.
