Katherine LeRoy-Lawson is an actor, director and educator at South Georgia State College. There she is the Assistant Professor of Theatre and head of the South Georgia State College Theatre Productions. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
Since arriving at South Georgia State College, Katherine has had the opportunity to direct and or produce published and original works for the college’s mainstage. She received a Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in Direction for SGSC Theatre Productions’ 2019 show Wit -- by Margaret Edson from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF). Wit was also showcased at the KCACTF region’s four festival in February of 2020. In addition, she is a member of the executive committee for KCACTF region four, serving as a chair for the Representation, Equity, and Diversity Initiative – also known as RED.
LeRoy-Lawson’s acting career spans over 17 years, with roles on off-off-off Broadway, in regional theatre, and in film and television. Some theatre credits: Good People, For Colored Girls, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, A Raisin in the Sun, In the Next Room, the 13th of Paris, Speech and Debate, Unnecessary Farce, Pretty Fire, The Ladies Man, Omnium Gatherum, among others. Notable television and film credits include Sundance’s Hap and Leonard, TV One’s Not Again, among others.
She enjoys teaching as she feels she has a natural affinity for sharing her knowledge of theatre/film/television with her students.
