Sandra Stosz is a retired Vice Admiral for the U.S. Coast Guard. Stosz started her career in the US Coast Guard as an ensign serving on polar icebreakers, conducting national security missions from the Arctic to the Antarctic. In 2015, as Deputy Commandant for Mission Support at the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D.C., she led 17,000 people through all support facets of the Coast Guard’s diverse missions. She was the first woman to become the Superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, and to command an icebreaker on the Great Lakes. Along the way, Admiral Stosz earned the prestigious Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal and was awarded multiple Legions of Merit, Meritorious Service, Commendation, and Achievement Medals.
She has lectured widely on leadership and has been featured on CSPAN and other media outlets. In 2012, Newsweek’s “The Daily Beast” named Sandy to their list of 150 Women who Shake the World.
