Nidia Bautista currently serves as Chief Consultant of the California Senate Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Communications. The committee’s jurisdiction includes all energy-related issues, including renewable energy procurement, energy efficiency, as well as utility governance and rates, transportation for-hire licensing, privately-owned water utilities, and communications service. She is one of two consultants for the committee, and the lead on energy-related issues. This is her seventh legislative session working for the committee. Previously, she served as a consultant to then-State Senator Kevin de Léon, handling environmental, natural resources, and energy policy for the Senator. Prior to joining the State Senate, she worked at the Coalition for Clean Air (CCA), a statewide nonprofit advocacy organization, where she served as the policy director. Previously she served a field deputy for then-United States Congressmember Hilda Solis, staffing a multitude of issues for the member.
