Innovative Methods 1a: Engagement of Parents in Home Visiting Research / Room 820
1:15 PM - 2:00 PM Tue
Denise Brown joined the Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) program in 2012 when she was pregnant with her son, Calvin Brown. She became very active in volunteering with the NFP program. Denise and Calvin graduated from NFP in 2014. Calvin Brown is now 12 years old, and in the 7th grade. Denise and the father of her son got married in 2017 and they thank NFP for providing them with family counseling to help them keep their family together. The family was extended when they added a daughter, who will be three on the 24th of September. Denise went on to work with the Northeast for the Healthy Start Coalition as a Lactation Consultant. After leaving the Coalition she started her own lactation services and doula services practice, which is thriving. Denise is also working as a Parent Leader with Healthy Start Coalition in Tallahassee. Denise feels that home visiting programs like Nurse Family Partnership can truly change the lives of the families they serve.
