Access services and student affordability: Leading the way in new offerings

John Mack Freeman (he/him) is the Head of Public Services Librarian at the Georgia Tech Library. He earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Valdosta State University and Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and English from Shorter College. Mack has been the department head of the Public Services department since 2021, overseeing a department of 21 full-time employees tasked with frontline support of the Library’s users. He was the 2021 recipient of the Georgia Library Association’s McJenkin-Rheay Award. His scholarly interests in privacy and surveillance in library spaces, intellectual freedom, professional development of library workers, and retention in politicized government agencies.
